The Objective

Develop an online presence that helps The Online School rival eton college

For The Online School, our aim was to transcend the conventional without alienating conventional people. The team at The Online School are disruptors in the education space, rivalling traditional institutions and household names with a modern take on private education and the pathway to Oxbridge.
We developed an experience that's not only modern and engaging but also speaks to clients who are used to more traditional educational platforms. Our target was a 25% increase in conversions within 6 months.

Building confidence

We focused on creating playful, but trustworthy look-and-feel for the site, starting with a vibrant colour palette and clean, friendly typeface selection: GT Walsheim from Grilli Type Foundry. We decided utilise WebGL and 3D to bring their logo to life, developing a subtle mouse-over interactions that speaks to the idea of life online, without going overboard.

Information Load

A core consideration with this site was the avoidance of information overload, and our central strategy revolved around cleverly integrating playful brand elements into a dense information framework. This approach not only counterbalances the potential for user overwhelm but also introduces a fun, unique user interface that captivates a diverse audience, from discerning parents, potential students and tutors. The key here was to avoid the trap of trying to speak to one demographic only, or to allow the site to become so bland that it spoke to nobody - but using design as a tool to simplify and engage we were able to create an impactful site that targeted a broad market effectively

Our work with The Online School has led to a 35% increase in conversions, and we’ve developed a sister subbrand with them.

Clever UI techniques to avoid information overload: a dense site that feels light.
